The Valhalla Model
Title: The Valhalla model
Commission: School assignment
For the course “Design in Society” we were asked to create a speculative design project to discuss the impact of migration in the context of the future of work, the setting being the riverfront of Göteborg in the year 2036. The project was created together with David Börjesson, Cong Bui Dinh and Henni Nguyen.
By using tools of trendspotting and future thinking to create future scenarios, we explored how society is developed. By envisioning a radically different society we backtracked it in order to understand all the factors that shape a society.
Our project resulted in a model for a new society that offer its citizen’s the possibility of S.B.I (Swedish basic income) in exchange for an early determination of their lives.
In order to promote this new model to the rest of the world we imagined that in the year 2036 Göteborg will host the Olympic summer games. This as the rigorous Valhalla model offers talented people within fields such as sport and art to fully commit to their practice, thus the Olympic Games being the perfect opportunity to show this.
